He constructed a logical contradiction: if the physical body perishes (suffering) and the Dharma-body is inanimate like wood or stone, there is no subject left to experience the "bliss" of extinction. In this lecture, the Sixth Patriarch Huineng corrects this dualistic view, explaining that Nirvana is not a sensation to be felt by a subject, nor is it a state of total annihilation.
