Urban Rivers: Environment Minister Watt Visit for Landcare Week

We welcomed Minister for the Environment Murray Watt to Jerrabomberra Wetlands for National Landcare Week, joined by local MPs Alicia Payne, Andrew Leigh, and David Smith. During the visit, we showcased the ACT Community Waterways Restoration Project, supported by the Australian Government’s Urban Rivers and Catchments Program and the ACT Government. The Friends of Jerrabomberra Wetlands and the Molonglo Conservation Group led a tour highlighting their on-ground work, including ecological restoration and invasive species management. We wrapped up the visit with native planting in an area previously overrun by blackberry, marking another step forward in restoring this vital ecosystem. This project received funding from the Australian Government’s Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with assistance from the ACT Government.
