A quelques km de la plage de Mehdiya et à une dizaine de km au sud de la ville de Kénitra, se trouve l’un des plus beaux sites écologiques du Maroc. Il s’agit de la réserve de Sidi Boughaba. Cette réserve contient une grande diversité d’oiseaux dont la rareté fait la spécificité de ce site. Connue pour la richesse de sa biodiversité, la réserve naturelle de Sidi Boughaba constitue un maillon d’une chaîne naturelle d’une très grande richesse. Ces atouts écologiques lui sont conférés par sa position géographique. En effet, la réserve de Sidi Boughaba se situe au milieu de l’axe migratoire paléobotanique : Europe-Afrique subsaharienne. Pour cette même raison, ce site constitue une halte pour une grande variété d’oiseaux. Plus de 205 espèces d’oiseaux ont été observées dans la réserve, 137 sont notées régulièrement, dont 37 sont sédentaires. Il s’agit du canard Colvert, de la sarcelle marbrée, de la foulque à crête, et du Hibou du Cap. La plupart des espèces migratrices transitant par le Maroc font escale dans la réserve et certaines d’entre elles en profitent pour y passer la saison estivale ou pour y hiverner. A few km from Mehdiya beach and about ten km south of the city of Kenitra, is one of the most beautiful ecological sites in Morocco. This is the Sidi Boughaba reserve. This reserve contains a great diversity of birds whose rarity makes this site specific. Known for the richness of its biodiversity, the Sidi Boughaba nature reserve constitutes a link in a very rich natural chain. These ecological assets are conferred on it by its geographical position. Indeed, the Sidi Boughaba reserve is located in the middle of the paleobotanical migratory axis: Europe-sub-Saharan Africa. For this same reason, this site constitutes a stopover for a wide variety of birds. More than 205 species of birds have been observed in the reserve, 137 are noted regularly, of which 37 are sedentary. These are the Mallard duck, the marbled teal, the crested coot, and the Cape owl.
