I was tearing down my previous setup and decided to play around with the Subharmonicon for a few minutes for fun. It seems like every time I touch the Subharmonicon, song ideas come out. It is an inspiration machine. I wanted to see if I could make an ambient piece feel full and rich using only the Subharmonicon and Mother 32. By introducing the voices one at a time, it felt like I was working with more than just two synths. And with the help of some interesting and weird reverb/delay—the Strymon NightSky and Hologram Microcosm—these two instruments covered all the space I needed. I was especially happy with the deep bass I was able to achieve on the Subharmonicon, and how many types of weird lead sounds I could make on the Mother 32 without popping out of the mix. This was a soothing and fun way to spend the night.
