Schneider-Kreuznach Curtagon 2.8/35mm – Vintage Wide Angle Tested Digitally In this video, I’m reviewing the Schneider-Kreuznach Curtagon 35mm f/2.8 — a compact wide-angle lens originally made for Kodak Retina cameras with the DKL mount, manufactured between 1960 and 1970. I’ve tested it on a modern mirrorless Canon EOS R5 using adapters. Alongside mechanical details and background info, I walk you through its optical performance at various apertures and focusing distances. You'll see direct RAW image comparisons — with corner and sharpness evaluations — plus a selection of final Lightroom-edited shots at the end. While the lens struggles wide open, it delivers surprisingly good results when stopped down. I’ll share which aperture ranges I recommend based on different shooting scenarios. Adapters used: – DKL to Canon EF (I recommend the Fotodiox DKL Pro) – Canon EF to RF with built-in filter slot (Canon original) Thanks for watching — stay healthy and see you next time!
