In this video I walk through a finished portrait, explaining my use of colour, from the base layers to the final touches. Why I use certain pencils for the initial layers, and what colours complement each other to create beautiful bay horses with your coloured pencils. I use colour theory to select colours for shadows, and a range of different pencils - some are chosen because of their specific colour, some are chosen because they lay down on the paper in a certain way. Colours you may not have used together, or pencils you might not have tried, hopefully this video will give you a little more insight into how to combine different pencils to create realistic looking coloured pencil portraits.
