For the past year, the L.A. Zoo has listened, engaged, and reflected on the feedback shared on our proposed Vision Plan. This has been critical to making sure that our future is rooted in animal welfare, wildlife conservation, meaningful guest experiences, equity and inclusion, sustainability and regeneration, and operational excellence. As a result, the Zoo created a new Project Alternative, Alternative 1.5, the California Focused Conservation Alternative. Starting July 14, 2022, the public will have 45 days (until Aug. 29) to review the changes in its Focused Recirculated Environmental Impact Report (EIR). Comments must be submitted to the City’s Bureau of Engineering (BOE) at https://bit.ly/BOE_ZOO. Please also consider sharing them directly with the L.A. City Council (Council File No. 21-0828) at https://bit.ly/CF0828. There will be a virtual public meeting on Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. Instructions for accessing the meeting will be available on the BOE website. The Zoo encourages everyone to review the information and provide feedback! With your support, together, we can be an inclusive, equitable, innovative, and beloved Zoo, which will continue to meet the challenges of protecting local and global wildlife species—helping them to thrive in the face of climate change.
