All rooms that can be used for sleeping are allowed. Children under 1 year old are not counted. Children from 1 years old and up to 10 years old count as a half. Children aged ten or over of the opposite sex who are not a couple, cannot sleep in the same room. When many occupants live at the property, you may want to provide a floor plan to save time. The Housing Act calculations for over crowding are as follows: Floor Plan/sizes. 110 sq. feet. or more, two persons. 90 sq. feet. or above but less than 110 sq.feet.1.5 persons (children under 10) 70 sq. feet. or above - less than 90 sq. feet.1 person 50 sq. feet. or more but less than 70 sq. feet. child under 10. For example, If you were living in studio flat of 110 square feet or more, this could be occupied by a couple and their child under the age of one years old.
