Ever wonder what’s it like to take a tranquil boat ride through our Caroni Swamp, found right here in Trinidad and Tobago? Join me as we enjoy and explore the everyday evening tour by Nanan’s Tours. The Caroni Bird Sanctuary is protected by the Ramsar Convention which is the oldest international environmental treaty in the world. This ensures that the diverse eco-system found in the swamp remains intact for years to come. It is also the home and a natural habitat for our national bird the Scarlet Ibis. Nanan Tour prices (at the time of this recording) are: Adult: $75 TTD ($11 USD approximately) per person Children: $40 TTD ($6 USD approximately) per kid They also do Private tours and kayaking, which requires advance reservation. One day we’ll return to experience this. Tours takes approximately 2.5 hours. TIP 1: The evening sun maybe a scorcher so walk with a hat TIP 2: It’s a swamp so make sure you have mosquito repellent TIP 3: No washrooms on board the boat, so make sure you use the washroom facilities on site before or after the tour.
