Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque is one of Brunei Darussalam's national mosque, one being Omar Al Saiffudien Mosque. Built in 1992 to celebrate the 25th year of the current sultan's reign, Brunei's largest mosque and its four terrazo-tiled minarets dominate their surroundings. It's impossible to miss as you head towards Gadong, about 3km from the city centre. The complex is adorned with 29 golden domes that at night the mosque is lit up like a gold flame. Brunei is a tiny nation on the island of Borneo, in two distinct sections surrounded by Malaysia and the South China Sea. The capital Bandar Seri Begawan, is home to the opulent Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque and its 29 golden domes.
