Sadie the Terrier mix is working hard on her loose leash walking skills, during her Board and Train program at Best Paw Forward Dog Training in Perkasie, PA! 🐾 For today’s session, we focused on helping Sadie understand how to walk calmly beside the handler without pulling. As an energetic Terrier mix, Sadie is learning that staying close, matching our pace, and checking in frequently leads to rewards and a more structured walk. Today we worked on: ✔️ Proper leash position and handler awareness ✔️ Rewarding engagement and eye contact ✔️ Slowing down and resetting when tension appears on the leash ✔️ Calm turns and direction changes ✔️ Building focus in a new environment Loose leash walking is a key foundation skill that sets Sadie up for success on neighborhood walks, outings, and real-life distractions. She’s making great progress learning impulse control and how to stay connected with her handler.
