Today we have a special video in which we will talk about the incredible journey of Tuvan women to Central Asia, or more precisely, to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Nadezhda, our heroine, will share her impressions and experiences after moving from Russia to Kazakhstan. The host of the podcast, Dankhayaa, will share her impressions of her trip to Kyrgyzstan. This is a unique opportunity to look at the life of Tuvans outside their homeland and compare how their national identity is changing in a new cultural context. Nadezhda’s first impressions will reflect adaptation to the new environment, language and traditions of Kazakhstan. We will learn what it means to be a Tuvan in Central Asia and what difficulties arise along the way. One of the key points of our conversation will be a comparison of the life experiences of Tuvan women in Russia and in the countries of Central Asia. We will learn how the perception of others changes, what stereotypes exist and what role national identity plays in this context. An important topic will be the discussion of the marginalization of the term "migrant". Nadezhda will talk about her experience of encountering migrant phobia in Russia, why people face prejudice, and how attitudes towards migrants and people of Asian appearance can be changed. We will look at issues of tolerance and diversity in society, and look for ways to overcome bias. During our conversation we will touch on the topic of “brotherly peoples”. Why is the expression “brotherly” peoples not always pleasant for Asians in Russia? This episode of the O'Decolon podcast is not just about moving between geographical locations, but also about immersing yourself in the diversity of cultures, the challenges of adaptation and the search for meaning in a new society.
