May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, and with it, the launch of a new campaign by Michigan Minds. The organization connects teens and young adults with resources and treatment options for early psychosis, providing a much-needed hub for mental health care in the state. “Michigan Minds is a hub that connects individuals and families that may have psychosis with coordinated specialty care teams across the state of Michigan,” explained Brienne Hackett, a licensed master social worker and clinical supervisor with Easter Seals. She appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about the program. The initiative offers a self-analysis quiz on their website, allowing individuals to assess their symptoms and find local resources. The treatment model is comprehensive, involving a team approach with therapists, education and employment specialists, and family support. “Our goal is to provide quality care to everybody, regardless of their insurance or their ability to pay,” said Hackett, addressing a common barrier to accessing mental health services.
