Cannabis Nursing is emerging as a specialty, with nurses advocating for the safe therapeutic use of cannabis by educating others about the endocannabinoid system and its medicinal benefits. While the American Nurses Association has taken a supportive stance, the American Medical Association has not approved cannabis as a medicine. It generally adheres to FDA guidelines, which still classify cannabis as a Schedule I substance. Today’s guest is a cardiologist and epidemiologist from Canada. Dr. Christopher Labos is a cardiologist with a master’s degree in Epidemiology. He writes columns for the Montreal Gazette and Medscape and is a regular on CJAD radio's Sunday Morning House Call. He also appears on CTV Montreal and CBC Morning Live. An associate with the McGill Office of Science and Society, Dr. Labos co-hosts the award-winning podcast “The Body of Evidence.” He authored “Does Coffee Cause Cancer?”, a book exploring food epidemiology and the often misleading nature of food headlines. As a course lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health at McGill University, he occasionally practices cardiology to keep his grocery budget in check.
