10 YEARS LIVING IN VANCOUVER, CANADA - MY STORY

In 2015, I packed two suitcases and moved to Vancouver, Canada. I had always wanted to live abroad, learn a new language, and experience life in a different place. Although I knew it wouldn’t be easy, nothing can truly prepare you for the extent of challenges that expats face. Language was just one of the many underestimated hurdles. I wanted to live here so badly that going back was not an option, so I made it work despite the many mental, social, and professional challenges I encountered. Looking back now, I’m happy to see that this path, although very painful, led me to unexpected and incredible things. Photography was one of the many unexpected things that came into my life, along with this channel! My old self was too afraid of what others might think; my current self is more afraid of not expressing myself and living an empty life. I know the difficulties I faced during my first years here were not unique; many people face even greater challenges. So I want to send all my support to you, acknowledge your efforts, and validate your struggles. If you’re in the middle of the process, know that things do get better.
