Powiedz (Tell Me) Tango (Skotnicki /Maciejowski) - Mieczysław Fogg & Orkiestra Syrena-Rekord, Syrena Electro 1936 NOTE: The slideshow is devoted to the last days of Warsaw in July 1939 - shortly before onset of the Second World War, the invasion of Poland by Germans from the West and two weeks later, on 17th of September and without the least declaration of war against Poland - by Russians from the East. Warsaw was being turned into ruins in three etappes: first, the Luftwaffe bombing in Septrember 1939, during the defense of the city directed by the heroic (and soon afterwards - executed by Germans) Mayor of Warsaw, Stefan Starzyński; second, was the partly annihilation of Warsaw's central area after the Jewish Ghetto Uprising in April, 1943. In revenge for that act of bravery and pride, nazis turned practically into the piles of rumble, the so called by the Germans "Jewish Ghetto" - area, where in the beginning of the war almost all of the Jews of Warsaw were concentrated , on purpose to have them in one place when the right time for the holocaust comes.
