Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

After 40 years of visiting the Kruger National Park, we finally made it to the Kgalagadi Transnational Park, and what a joy! The drive up the west coast of the Cape was awesome; the mountains, the different terrain and eventually the red dunes of the Kalahari all were breathtaking. The Park itself was so different from anything we had experienced up until now, and there were a few things which really surprised me: Firstly the amount of vegetation in the 'desert'; secondly the diversity of animals and birds, and finally the cold - oh it was cold at night and in the early mornings! But I loved it, it was really a fantastic trip. Perhaps too short as I would have liked to have spent a few days exploring the Botswana side of the park, but maybe next time.
