There's not really anything happening yet as far as full game speedrunning of this game goes, so I hope with this run I can provide a good starting point. I decided to just play through all the courses on a completed save file, without triggering the cheese protection on any of the courses. This does not mean I always 100% stick to the track, there are some small possible shortcuts with missing cheese triggers that have been reported early on, but have not been fixed. The devs have suggested they are open to keeping some as official shortcuts, so at least for the time being I assume those are fair game for a "no cheese"-speedrun. I would also like to see a proper any% speedrun being tackled in the future, one that starts from a fresh savefile and involves unlocking the tracks and navigating the map, as well as runs that make full use of all skips, ignoring cheese-detection. Since I don't have a ton of time to invest in full game runs right now though, doing a cheese-less NewGame+ run was more accessible to me. My board setup of choice is the pennyboard with flytrap wheels, which gives me extremely responsive handling that is quite hard to control but very effective if you have a steady thumb. It is especially useful on tight hairpins, where if you lean back while turning, you can carry a lot of momentum through sharp corners. Since my goal for now was to set a solid benchmark time, I was more going for safety and consistency over risk and optimization, and I believe it paid off. Yesterday I posted a 31:12, which was largely fine, but I soured a lot on this run due to mistakes piling up at the end, so I am glad I achieved a faster one today. I am very satisfied with this run, as you lose the most time by crashing, and only one crash in the entire run is much better than I expected to do with so few attempts. So I am confident this is a fairly strong time to start the game's speedrun history with. On screen, I timed the run with real time for simplicity, but I think for a fair comparison, this should be timed by adding up the level times, as this gets rid both of the menuing and load time differences, which vary not just between different computers, but even on my end within a single play session. My total ingame time this run is 28:53.12. / nimputs https://www.speedrun.com/user/Nimputs https://bsky.app/profile/nimputs.bsky... https://nimputs.neocities.org/
