We visited the Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway again on Thursday 2nd March 2023, looking at the southern section from Starr Gate to Wellington Road in South Shore. We arrived as the last tram to leave depot, forming the 09:38 to Fleetwood from Starr Gate, was making its manoeuvres from the depot onto the main line then back to Starr Gate. Note that the depot gates that have long been out of use were working today. This will be a huge improvement in site security for the tram depot. The nine tram output was 001, 002, 004, 008, 010, 011, 012, 013, 016AD. 001 continues to run with the old Sands Venue adverts applied that were beneath the Merlin Entertainments allover advert and it is noted that, on one side, they are starting to peel off. It still carries one of the huge "001" fleet numbers too. 010 and 011 have no external advertising at all as they carried The Platinum Jubilee advertising and the mazuma mobile wrap respectively and escaped the "Heart Attack and Stroke" centre panel advertising applied to the rest of the fleet where redundant advertising continues to be carried with the exception of 003 and 016 that carry redundant allover wraps for Pretty Little Thing. 012 continues to run with its wowtels advert removed, but not cleaned up, so the advert becomes more legible each day as the dirt builds up on the side of the tram. With the lack of any current advertising, it would be, surely, a good time to consider a full fleet rewrap, hopefully in grey and lemon to note the connection with Blackpool Transport's PALLADIUM fleet and also to rid the fleet of the awful faded purple and white livery that has been carried not for almost twelve years? This would certainly smarten up the fleet offering as well as demonstrating the coordinated network with Blackpool's buses.
