Shimano Technium is a very popular monofilament line among fishermen. Looking at its properties, it is almost legendary. It is suitable for both long throw and pull-in. Its popularity is mainly spread among anglers from Boilies. But it can also be a very reliable help on a feeder rod. Due to its high abrasion resistance during river fishing, it can handle choppy, clam fishing waters well. Today, fishing has developed into a very prominent business. Anglers have every right to expect the data on the products to be accurate and verifiable. What exactly do I mean? I would highlight fishing lines in particular, as I find the situation in this area to be the most worrying. When choosing a line, the diameter and tensile strength immediately come to mind. This is no accident, as these data are the most noticeable after the product name. Today, in the case of reputable manufacturers, these data are most likely real or at least close to it. However, there is no longer any information or regulation about the exact conditions under which these test results were obtained. I am thinking here of whether, for example, the result of a knotted or straight line tensile strength test is indicated. Dry or wet line may have been used when testing the fishing line. Furthermore, it would be very important to know the partial results that give the average value, since they show the percentage of variance during the given test, for example during the fishing line tensile strength test. In addition, we can also see on the product that the given fishing line has, for example, low elongation (what percentage is the elongation value), and that it has high wear resistance, the question also arises, compared to what? To mention only a few without claiming to be complete. In Europe, the Line Charta program of the EFTTA organization has embraced the verification of the authenticity of data on fishing lines. If the data provided by the manufacturer and/or distributor of the fishing equipment correspond to reality within a 10 percent tolerance, the association allows the manufacturer and/or distributor to use the logo indicating reliable certification. Joining the association is voluntary. Unfortunately, however, there are also many gaps in the fishing line test result tables published by EFTTA. I'm thinking here of the partial results already mentioned, the fishing line diameter and the tensile strength, as well as the examination of wear and elongation data. But the biggest problem is not being able to find recent fishing line test results, at least I unfortunately couldn't find any more recent than 2021. I see a similar problem with other fishing accessories and fishing trinkets. Although there is some information on the packaging. The data referring to the size can almost always be found on the packaging of the hooks, clips, and swivels, but only a small number of manufacturers indicate the value indicating the maximum load capacity, while almost none of them indicate the weight of the product. I perform the tests statically. Which means that the test results of fishing equipment are correct under the given conditions. Of course, these values, organized into a complete fishing skill, vary greatly depending on the properties of the fishing rod and the setting of the fishing reel, as well as the angler's technique. My goal is to create a clear and repeatable test process, taking into account the mentioned aspects, and record the test results in a table. It is important to point out that the fishing lines and accessories tested by me were not made in laboratory conditions and with untested devices. As a result, I can neither refute nor confirm the values indicated by the manufacturers and/or distributors with the results! #riverwater fishing #feeder #fishing #monofilament #shimanofishing
