ChatGPT is supposed to offer objective, neutral and purely fact-based responses to questions—the things that humans can't do. But new research shows that it's not immune to the same biases that we have. A study from the University of Kentucky and University of Oxford asked the AI model to compare people from different cities and states and found that if you push it hard enough, it will reveal which ones it thinks are smarter, kinder or prettier than one another. It raises questions about the biases that have been built in to AI platforms and how they can perpetuate injustices experienced in the real world.
