This is a review of the new 2014 released model in the revised packaging on the Class 35 "Hymek" Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive in the BR Blue livery numbered as D7064 with the white wrap around the window shrouds and the small yellow warning panel at the front ends. I like the detail on this model because it seems to capture the shape of the real locomotive really well and another thing that I like is that this model locomotive has a metal chassis with all wheel drive and a central can motor for optimum performance when hauling a train. There is a vast amount of detail parts included with the model that can be added if required including two snowploughs, which is interesting because I have never seen a Hymek with ploughs as I don't think they ever operated in the North or Scotland. But I do appreciate any information on this or why this model locomotive comes with ploughs. I will not be using these on this model as I think it will look much better without them. But that is just my preferences. Anyway, staying on track. This model has the DCC 8-pin interface which is accessed when the bodyshell is removed from the chassis. There is no cab or tail lights on this model nor are there any sprung buffers, but the model has illuminated headcodes and wire handrails as well as etched wipers. So it is still a great model from Heljan all round. Performance is excellent and this model locomotive can handle the test train of four Hornby Mk2E carriages with ease. Overall Rating: 10/10.
