How do you feel about 2026? Are you able to leave the challenges of 2025 behind? Can 2026 be less confronting. Can we find God’s light on our path? Being present in God gives us direction, and having seen His birth again, we need to renew our lives. Today we consider the baptism of Christ. It is an affirmation of hope and an offering of faith. What does it mean to us now in 2026? Jesus’ baptism does not offer an easy path, but it does offer faith. It promises that God is with us in the depths and in the good times too. We need to see our stories in God not God in our stories. St Francis said: “What you are looking for, is looking.” Can God be more central in our lives this year? Can we see His current direction for us? The Isaiah reading talks about looking for hope in despair and finding help and hope in our vulnerability. Can we use our faith to give us courage and freedom. We must know ourselves as God’s beloved and carry that into this year with us. Readings: Isaiah 42:1-9 Psalm 29 Acts 10:34-43 Matthew 3:13-17
