Jews suffered through 1800 years of foreign occupation ,if one counts from 135 ce to 1920, Meaning from the end of the second Jewish revolt against the Romans until the beginning of the British mandate of Palestine , While some might count from 70 ce to 1948 Meaning from the end of the first Jewish revolt to the establishment of the state if Israel . Jews under the Muslim occupation of their land were made poor and weak They become dependent on donations from the Jewish communities in the diaspora , Mainly Europe ,North Africa and turkey . This is because of the Muslim Lara that forbade Jews from owning land ,carrying a weapon ,and having equal rights in trial. This is how the Jews become a minority in their land during the Arab period (634-1099) And the way for Jews to survive in the land was to send messengers to the diaspora and ask for donations . This didn’t mean that the Jewish community in Israel didn’t contribute in the spiritual world -in fact it lead the Jewish world . For example , The most important book about Jewish law was written in Israel in the 16 century . The most famous Jewish song got Shabbat was written in Israel in the 16 century . The dominance of the Babylonian Talmud in Jewish law is a result of actions by the Jews of Israel as well . Most notable Jews during the ages either lived in Israel or died in Israel or encourage other la to come to Israel .
