Daemon Targaryen (House of the Dragon) | The Rogue Prince

WARNING: spoilers, violence It took me TEN YEAAAAAAAAARS to make this video... UPD: I see people in the comments who misunderstood my point. In fairness, I will not erase what I already wrote, so again: Daemon is one of my favorite characters. I MARK THIS FACT IN BOLD ITALIC. And I love him for who he is: cunning, cruel, furious, impulsive, ambitious, cynical. His badass nature makes the story richer and more interesting. But I don't agree with how Daemon is perceived by most viewers. I don't think Daemon is a good person. I think that people tend to romanticize him and attribute to him those qualities that the prince simply does not have. FAVORITE CHARACTER ≠ A MORALLY GOOD CHARACTER. I know this axiom is hard to accept, but it MUST be accepted. And lest I be further accused of hypocritical sympathy for the psychopath Aemond, I emphasize that it concerns not only Daemon, but almost all the characters of HotD and GoT. Now please enjoy reading the description further... *** Forgive me my green stans because I have sinned. I made a video about a member of the black team 😔 Anyway, I'm here to gently remind you: Daemon Targaryen is NOT a good person. You! Yes, you! Young lady from Twitter! Stop romanticizing this man! You don't need an internet bf like this, trust me. I genuinely like Daemon, I find him a very interesting character. But I caught myself thinking that the mass hysteria around him in the media makes me dislike the prince... Tbh, sometimes I even think that this is some kind of gaslighting. Fans try to convince me that Daemon is a loving husband and caring brother, but is he really? He dragged his future wife into a brothel to disgrace and dishonor her, so that rumors about her would spread throughout Westeros, and so that no decent lord would marry her. Of course, except for the good uncle Daemon, who pulled off this scam in order to get closer to the throne. And what about a caring brother? Daemon has been a pain in the ass for Viserys all his life. And sometimes Daemon's impudence went beyond all possible limits. (No one has forgotten how the prince toasted the death of his barely born nephew, right?) I often see fans complain that Viserys didn't listen to Daemon about Otto. Okay, what would happen if he listened? Viserys would have stayed with Daemon and his advice "yOu aRe a draGoN, yoUr woRd is laW" one on one. He would have to marry Laena Velaryon, and then we would have a blue party, not a green one. I have probably the MOST unpopular opinion in this fandom, but I honestly think Otto was a good advisor. Yes, he acted in his own interests. But his interests paradoxically coincided with the interests of the realm. Daemon's interests, on the other hand, were only aligned with Daemon's. Well, thanks for coming to my TED talk, that's all. I will reiterate that Daemon is one of my favorite characters. But please don't idealize him. Don't try to think of him better than he really is. And most importantly, do not justify his actions. We are all watching a fictional story about fictional people. So why not just enjoy the show?.. #hotd #daemontargaryen ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ FANDOM: House of the Dragon MUSIC:    • Rok Nardin - The Mad Prince   SOFTWARE: Sony Vegas Pro 17 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
