Barlagual is an okay monster. Oddly, this monster resides in both HR5 and G Rank 7* which are both part of the endgames of MHF, in Elite rank and G rank respectively ; but this monster is really not very difficult. Barlagual's blood sucking abilities are frightening, but they are the only dangerous stuff in its moveset. Outside of those, Barlagual is a rather docile and sluggish monster with an easily dodgable moveset pool. I don't like Barlagual's pin attacks, as I personally prefer MH games to not have gore towards hunters ; I'm used to the more cartoonish style of the games we got since 3rd gen. But it is true like a friend told me that back in 1st and 2nd Gen, Monster Hunter was a more gloomy series, and Frontier is probably the one where this is most apparent. Interestingly Barlagual was chosen for a TEPPEN card, which gave him a localised name. This is the only Frontier exclusive monster to get this treatment as far as I know, I doubt this could ever mean Barla could be brought to mainline, but it's still interesting to point out.
