Progress, Perspective, and Peace | ACC, Cushing’s, and What Cancer Gave Me

Today’s video starts with progress. I share an update on what’s going on with my ACC and Cushing’s, including a telehealth visit with one of my Seattle doctors. We talked about the swelling and edema in my legs and feet, possibly adding a water pill, and how the team wants to be careful because I already deal with frequent urination. She was also genuinely amazed that I still haven’t had any real side effects or symptoms since chemo — something I don’t take lightly. From there, I talk about life. How people deserve more free time and less stress. How cancer, strangely enough, set me free to live more intentionally. I’m not rushing through life anymore. I’m present. I also talk about my wife — her obsession with helping me heal led us to an incredible diet that’s helped both of us. She is smart, driven, and absolutely amazing, and I wouldn’t be here without her. I end the video with a moment that stopped me in my tracks: my youngest son worked up the courage to ask me to kiss him goodnight on the cheek.
