2017 - Mind the Gap: Pedagogical Intentions, Student Perceptions, and Partnerships - Peter Felten

Keynote at the 10th Annual Learning and Teaching Conference, University of Glasgow by Peter Felten Emerging research in the United States suggests that university students learn more, and more deeply, when staff are clear and transparent about the purposes, tasks, and assessment criteria of the work we assign in our modules and courses. However, research also demonstrates that students often misunderstand or do not value the work we require of them in higher education. This interactive session will explore the gap betweeen our pedagogical intentions and student perceptions, and will consider how working in partnership with students might enhance transparency, motivation and learning.
