Bluffton neighborhood divided over targeted deer removal decision

Rose Hill Plantation has begun culling 141 deer after a survey showed the neighborhood was overpopulated. The decision was nearly split down the middle across around 1,000 residents, with some residents concerned about the safety and legality of the process. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources allows for deer culling in private neighborhoods where recreational hunting is illegal. The neighborhood is in the initial culling phase and will eventually get to maintenance mode, with maintenance culling typically around 10-40 deer depending on the neighborhood's population.
