A Livigno l’Epifania non è solo una data sul calendario: è una parola che corre di bocca in bocca. Il 6 gennaio ci si saluta così, senza esitazioni: “Bondì Ghibinet!”. Intanto i bambini animano il paese, sfrecciano con le slitte lungo le vie e bussano qua e là alla ricerca di dolcetti e piccoli doni. È una tradizione che affonda le radici in tutta la Valtellina e richiama il viaggio dei Re Magi, portatori di regali per Gesù Bambino. Il termine Ghibinet, secondo molti, nasce da una trasformazione del tedesco Gaben-nacht, ovvero “notte dei doni”. Attenzione però: chi, il giorno dell’Epifania, dimentica di rispondere subito al saluto rituale è costretto a “pagare pegno” offrendo un regalino. On January 6th, people greet each other with a simple phrase: “Bondì Ghibinet!”. Children fill the streets with sleds, moving through the village in search of sweets and small gifts. This tradition is shared across the Valtellina area and symbolises the arrival of the Three Wise Men, bearers of gifts for the Baby Jesus.
