Berlin Science Week – 2021 Highlights

Berlin Science Week is an annual festival from 1 to 10 November that brings together thousands of people from the worlds of science, business, politics, the arts, and society at large. As a global hub, our mission is to strengthen vibrant and diverse scientific networks as well as to facilitate a fruitful, open, and interdisciplinary dialogue between science and society. Guided by the leitmotif ‘Dare to Know’, we partner with organisations from around the globe to showcase scientific excellence, promote debates on the world‘s major challenges, and find new, interactive, and fun ways to make science, research, and innovation engaging. ---- In 2021 Berlin Science Week hosted over 200 events by more than 150 organisations with topics ranging from climate protection to technical sovereignty, immune research, societal trends or inclusive science. On 5–6 November, the iconic Museum für Naturkunde Berlin was transformed into the main festival hub - the Berlin Science Week Campus. With more than 30 hybrid events and interactive exhibitions it became the place to be for curious minds. We are glad to have presented contributions from science-driven organisations and initiatives such as the Climate Change Center, Berlin University Alliance, ETH Zurich, Light Art Space, Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Tohoku University, Futurium, Berlin Institute of Health at Charité, Falling Walls Foundation, 3M, SAPEA Science Advice for Policy by European Academies, Gropius Bau, Quantum Valley Lower Saxony, European Research Council, Berlin Research 50, and many others.
