I finally built the Mach 2 1/72 RB-57F and I’m REALLY GLAD I did :) The ‘what if’ back story: In 1963 the USAF modified some RB-57D into RB-57F These still fly for NASA    • NASA's WB 57F Long Wing   In 1972 after years of hard service nine were placed in David Monthan - AMARC. In 2000 these were purchased by the Malagasy 🇲🇬 Whif defence force. Upgraded by Duckheed Larkin with strnger wings making use of composites and titanium spars these entered service to replace the PR.9 Canberras in 2005. They feature heavily upgraded cockpits, fuel systems and have the ability to be reconfigured to carry different sensors. Their ‘jobs’ are secret! 🤫 They are always under armed guard 💂 This is F for Furtive Fiona. A big difference between these and the RB-57 used by the USAF is the fitting of an aerial refuelling point. The KC-135R with its boom is therefore essential to remain in service as well. Eventually the RQ-4B will be purchased… Range unrefuelled- 3000miles Range refuelled- ? They can carry (as here) the J-60 podded jets. These are used at above 40,000ft and give an extra 2500 ft. That’s a ‘public’ figure of 80,000ft to 82,500ft!!! This is therefore a Strategic Type!
