Once again leaving the E Street Band aside, he wrote an album about the aftermath of success and love, laying bare his own doubts and fears of what lies beneath of every story of love and success. Despite of being clearly a son of the eighties, and despite the heavy use of keys and rhythm machines, "Tunnel Of Love" feels, still to this day and as it happens with most of Springsteen's output, authentic and valid.
