Today our flight is a little interesting! We will be flying on this Qantas Airbus A380 from Sydney, Australia over to Johannesburg, South Africa. While doing so, we will be starting the flight in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and half way through the flight we'll finish it in the newly released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024! This Qantas Airbus A380 (VH-OQA, Nancy-Bird Walton) is 17 years old, rolling off the assembly line and delivered to Qantas in September 2008. This particular aircraft is the A380 suffered an "incident 4 Nov 2010, at SIN suffering an engine #2 failure after take-off enroute to SYD, aircraft lost parts of the engine over Batam Island. Crew shut down the engine and made a safe landing at SIN after dumping fuel and returned to service 22 Apr 2012." The route will be mostly over the southern Indian Ocean, coming close to Antarctica, and then back up to Johannesburg.
