The beginning of summer means school is out, the warm weather calls you outdoors, you have a renewed appreciation for water, and, of course, it's an excuse to get caught up on the books on your list you haven't gotten to yet. Chris Van Allsburg's "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick" is one of those "book about books" and the genius of it (and most good books) is that it puts the reader to work. These images "in medias res" pull you in and invite you to answer the question: "What were the stories that went with these drawings?" The same can be said when you see a random person on the street. "What are the stories that went with that person?"
