Trying RAKIJA AND DOMAĆICA | Croatian Schnaps and Biscuits My friend Josi was so nice to bring two of Croatia's food staples to try them together with me. Two different types of homemade rakija and tea biscuits! Loved them! :-D Rakija is the most popular spirit in Croatia. In the interior of the country a spirit called šljivovica (shlivovitza) is made from plums, and one called orahovica (orahovitza) is made from walnuts as its name is derived from the word orah meaning walnut tree. In general, in the Balkans, rakija is offered to guests in one's home as a welcoming gesture. And the chocolate-coated tea biscuit called Domaćica is one of Kraš’s most famous products in and outside Croatia and they are delicious! I’m a tea fanatic and these go so well with my cuppa. :-) Lots of love, Eileen Fancy a new kitchen?
