Finally had the weather to fly to Jersey. Nice mix of VFR and IMC flying. Departed Bristol IFR direct to Exmoor then Berry head then on to 50 north and the FIR boundary before heading overhead Guernsey and Jersey. On reflection it would have been easier to depart using the SID but as i have a restricted instrument rating wasn't sure if that was allowed, turns out it is. Thanks to Bristol ATC for their help and patience and Exeter radar. Being over water and out of glide range for so long was a great new experience and one i would recommend to anyone but a life raft and jackets are a must. Jersey Aeroclub were amazing and used to handling aircraft from other countries. The gendec and GAR were filed using online GAR who are fantastic and forward all the emails as soon as you complete the form and made it very easy when I had to change the aircraft. As they were filed in advance just had to pay the £13 landing fee and off we went to explore Jersey. On return they were more than happy to print off my sky demon plog and check our flight plan was filed. One thing i would say is that if you take a wide aircraft like the 182 watch your wing tips as the parking is ludicrously tight. Jersey tower were just as helpful and Jersey control allowed us straight up to FL075, that's in the next video. Enjoy.
