The heart and lungs are a ball and socket joint. The heart can rotate inside the lungs and the lungs can rotate around the heart. For the heart to rotate inside the lungs, the lungs need to counter-rotate around the heart. For the lungs to rotate around the heart, the heart needs to counter-rotate inside the lungs. Each lung has its own relationship with the heart and can rotate or counter-rotate around the heart. The lungs also have a relationship to the legs. In this clip, Bonnie is demonstrating rolling and moving, feeling the rotation and counter-rotation of the heart and lungs, and then feeling how the lungs connect into the legs. Engaging the lower lobes of the lungs is necessary to support the connection of the lungs through the legs. This exploration can be helpful for rotation of the torso (increase mobility of the ribs and between the ribs and pelvis), breathing, building of core support, and integrated and ease of movement of the shoulder and shoulder girdle.
