Presented in 4K! Over the past 2 months of the year, BNSF has been sending more than the usual boring power we are accustomed to here in the San Diego County area. From Windmill Trains, to FRA Inspection Trains, and even special power, it's been an interesting past few weeks in our area! Come along as we take a look at these various special BNSF trains. Starting in Downtown San Diego, the New Year is off to a great start! Norfolk Southern #9267 (GE C44-9W, Dash 9) paid San Diego a visit, and is seen here switching around cars with a fellow BNSF Dash 9 in the BNSF Yard. As always, a very friendly yard crew making the nightly "Daygo" manifest train. Unfortunately upon departure, the Norfolk Southern engine died. With only 1 engine pulling a 30 car train, it was impossible to continue. The train shoved back into the yard and left around 2 AM the next morning. Nonetheless, lucky to get it while it was running! BNSF GP60 #187 also is seen switching around in the yard. Next up heading up north to Oceanside, California, where the inbound and outbound BNSF Daygo trains are seen. With the inbound being the typical GEVO power BNSF sends, the attraction of the night was the Northbound Daygo. BNSF #9237 (EMD SD70ACe) at the controls, with a powerful K5LLA echoing through the night. No trouble with horsepower for this train, flying through the Oceanside Transit Center! Jumping into February, the 'Feds' sent a special suprise down here - DOTX 221! The former sleeper car has been restored for use by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). Now fitted with the latest in technology for our railroads, it travels the country inspecting the tracks. I caught it in Rose Canyon and at Sorrento Valley, with 2 BNSF engines assisting power wise. Very friendly crew, thanks guys! Rounding up the catches, BNSF sent down a windmill train a few weeks ago. You might remember one came down last October, both of which came from Pueblo, Colorado. Caught it at Cardiff by the Sea, Sorrento Valley, and CP Rose in Rose Canyon. 2nd in consist, is BNSF #9072 (EMD SD70ACe). The ACe was on point of the train before Barstow, would've been way better with it on point down here! Regardless, awesome train to visit our area! Thanks for watching!
