Tesla Model Y Performance deliveries are just now beginning. This going awaited release is finally here and brings the updates in the refresh Model Y to the Performance model. Since 2020 Tesla has been offering a Performance version of the Model Y. All this time, this limited option packed a lot of performance in the Model Y package. But one thing that didn't sit well with some people was the uncomfortable stiff ride and the fact that it really didn't look different than the regular Model Y. In fact, previously, besides the 21" wheels, a Carbon Fiber spoiler on back and a red line under "Dual Motor" there was nothing else to differentiate the Performance Model Y from the Long Range AWD version. Fast forward to 2025, Tesla released the long anticipated refresh Model Y. And while many of the updates were exactly what we expected, some of it was a pleasant surprise. There is no doubt that the refresh Model Y will be as successful as the previous version and the Performance trim also brings unexpected changes. The Performance now comes with a different exterior look and different seats than the Premium Model Y. These updates are a welcome change from the old way at Tesla where there wasn't much difference in the looks. But dont worry, it doesn't end with looks. The refresh Model Y Performance also packs a punch, and thats thanks to new motors, a new battery, and updates to the suspension. This vehicle now accelerates from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, and unlike the previous version, it does it comfortably. Tesla has decided with the refresh Model Y Performance, they wanted to accommodate the average Model Y owner. Most all Model Y owners never tracked their cars like the Model 3 Performance owners do. That means that there is room to put in a slightly more comfortable suspension and maintain performance characteristics you would expect. Letting some of the track level performance needs go, and focusing on power and comfort, Tesla has delivered something that is likely to be more popular than the previous version, and at an $8,500 premium, thats good news for Tesla's bottom line.
