Shahram Majidi, MD, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, identifies flow disruption as one of the most exciting new developments in the field of endovascular intervention for hemorrhagic stroke. Intrasaccular flow disruption is an innovative technique that has shown promise in early investigations. The only currently FDA-approved flow disrupter is the Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device, which uses a low-porosity mesh device to modify blood flow and induce aneurysmal thrombosis. Dr Majidi talks on the benefits of this method over other endovascular aneurysm treatments and how the concept is likely to grow in the coming years.
