It is mildly tangy, gently spiced, and typically served with steamed rice. This traditional dish is especially popular in Tamil Nadu and Kerala households. 🌿 Ingredients 2 cups slightly sour buttermilk (or diluted yogurt) 23tbsp grated coconut 1–2 green chilies 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tbsp soaked chana dal,toordal (optional) ¼ tsp turmeric powder Salt to taste For tempering: 3 tablespoons coconut oil ½ tsp mustard seeds 1–2 dried red chilies Curry leaves Optional vegetables: Ash gourd, ladies’ finger, or cucumber 🍲 Preparation Grind the paste: Blend coconut, green chilies, cumin seeds, and soaked chana dal and toor dal , ginger into a smooth paste using a little water. Prepare the buttermilk mixture: Whisk the buttermilk with turmeric and salt. Add the ground paste and mix well. Cook the vegetables (if using): Boil chopped vegetables separately until tender. Combine and heat gently: Add the cooked vegetables to the buttermilk mixture. Heat on low flame, stirring continuously Tempering: Heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, red chilies, and curry leaves. Let them splutter and pour over the kulambu. 🍚 Serving Suggestion Serve hot with steamed rice, along with a simple poriyal (stir-fried vegetable) or papad. Mor Kulambu is loved for its light, cooling nature and is often prepared during hot summer days or as part of traditional South Indian meals.Thank you
