Sickle or Scythe -- for cutting Maize

While we were demonstrating a scythe for cutting alfalfa, we were asked to try it on maize grown in the field nearby. Here, they cut maize before it gets mature and woody, as they use it for a fodder. For this application we attached the grain cradle to the snath and as you can see in this video, it worked really well. You can also see a direct comparison between gathering the maize with the traditionally used sickle and an alternative — the SCYTHE.
