Galea In recent years, urbanisation of forested regions and global warming has greatly increased the number of evacuations of large populations from wildfires associated with the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). Wildfire evacuations often involve people evacuating by foot, private and public transport vehicles. Computer models for pedestrian evacuation, traffic simulation and wildfire spread can assist crisis managers and incident commanders, during the planning and incident response phases to prepare for and manage WUI evacuations. In this presentation, a novel coupling of the aforementioned computer models to produce an integrated simulation environment will be described. The slides from this presentation are available within the workshop proceedings which can be downloaded from the evacuation workshop website.
