Sutherland Shire Council rangers ordered a family to deflate a small inflatable pool set up for their eight-year-old son Walter, who has cerebral palsy and is a quadriplegic, at Kurnell Beach during Australia Day celebrations. The council cited safety concerns despite ten adults supervising, and Mayor Jack Bowd later apologised, acknowledging staff could have shown more empathy and discretion.
