At the Future of Democracy Conference in October 2025, there was a session that focused on the "forgetting" that has taken place and is taking place among Afro-descendant people in The Bahamas and what the means for the national and regional demand for reparations. We talked about the need to (re)connect with our shared history and memory, understanding its relevance to where we are today, the challenges we face, and how we move forward in demanding our rights and reparations. In this session, we will be conversation with the Chair of The Bahamas National Reparations Committee about memory, history, school curricula, and the demand for reparations. This conversation took place November 26, 2025 as part of Equality Bahamas' 16 Days of Activism events. The Global 16 Days Campaign was started in 1991 by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership and runs from November 25 to December 10. This year, we are focused on Reclaiming Our Rights.
