Powerday is set to begin a fuel supply agreement with the new Indaver Energy from Waste plant in Rivenhall, Essex. Recently, we had the opportunity to visit the site, where Simon Little caught up with David Rumble to discuss the project's progress and the facility’s eventual capabilities. The plant is designed to convert over 595,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating both heat and electricity, and exporting 55MW to the National Grid. Indaver’s plans for the site include a 40-hectare greenhouse that will reuse waste heat and CO₂ to grow approximately 30,000 tonnes of tomatoes each year - equating to around 8% of the UK's annual consumption. This initiative will not only reduce reliance on imports from southern Spain, Morocco, and the Netherlands, but also create 420 full-time jobs and inject around £300 million into the local economy.
