This isn't just a lake; it's a full-service getaway nestled in the mountains near Mariazell, perfect for a day trip, a whole weekend or vacation. In this video, I'll give you a complete tour of everything Erlaufsee has to offer. Disclammer: to respect privacy, I filmed it early morning before people came to the lake. 🏞️ The Lake & Beach: The heart of the area is the beautiful lake with crystal-clear water and stunning mountain views. You'll find lush green lawns with sunny and shady spots, a great beach restaurant with a terrace over the water, and boat rentals (both traditional and electric). For kids, there's a small playground and a big water slide. There's even a dedicated zone for dogs at the end of the beach! Opened usually during summer and good weather, check out and make reservation at the website: https://www.rudyshcool.com/sommer 🏕️ The Cozy Campsite: Just 50 meters from the lake is a small, welcoming campsite with spots for tents and caravans. It's beautifully set up with a little pine wood, dining tables, places to hang a hammock, and its own playground with table tennis. Camping website:https://www.camping-erlaufsee.at/ Opened from May to September (actual opening times always check on the website) 🚂 The Museum Tramway: A special highlight is the historic steam train that runs between Erlaufsee and the nearby town of Mariazell. Be sure to book the Kletterpark and the campsite online in advance, especially on sunny summer weekends, as they can get fully booked. I've often done a weekend cycling trip here: take the Mariazellbahn from Vienna, camp overnight, enjoy the lake, and then cycle the beautiful Traisental route back to St. Pölten and then back to Vienna by train.
