In Nepalese Hindu culture, a naming ceremony (called Nwaran or Namkaran) is traditionally held on the 8th day after a baby’s birth (sometimes between the 3rd–12th day, depending on astrology and family tradition). During the ceremony, a priest (pandit) determines the child’s official name based on their birth chart (Janma Kundali) and astrological calculations tied to the time, date, and place of birth. The ritual involves purification of the home, blessings from elders, and offerings to deities. The baby is bathed, dressed in new clothes, and touched with sacred items like rice, flowers, and tika (red vermilion paste). Family members and guests bless the child, and the chosen name is whispered into the baby’s ear for the first time. The event usually ends with prayers, gift-giving, and a celebratory feast. 🎥 Welcome to @kabishg! This video captures another slice of life—raw, real, and unfiltered.
