Since its debut in 2006, the Rune Factory series has introduced a total of six titles as of 2019, to be seven with the anticipated release of “Rune Factory 5” for the Nintendo Switch in 2021. Rune Factory is a series of fantasy adventure role-playing video games that feature elements of farming, dungeons, romance, crafting, and more. In "Rune Factory 3,” the protagonist awakens in the town of Sharance of the Norad Kingdom without his memory and identity. Before the colossal, pride-of-the-town Sharance Tree, a flower-loving girl named Shara welcomes him to the town and offers him a home within the tree, which has mysteriously and helplessly been bare of blossom for several decades. As the protagonist explores the neighboring seasonal biomes, he rediscovers his true form as a half-human, half-wooly, and is pressured to hide his secret from the humans of the town and univir of the desert settlement, both raised with discriminatory attitudes towards the opposing race. Following his increasing interactions with both populations, the tree suddenly shows modest signs of growth, giving the protagonist the idea to reconcile the grudge and establish peace between the town and the settlement.
